2018 Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month had 278 classes participate! 5800 students across the province got to experience Agriculture in their classrooms. Thank you to the grade 3's at Holy Family in Paradise for helping AITC-NL to launch the new book, Blossom's Big Job. Blossom is a busy honeybee that works hard to provide honey for her hive and pollinate flowers.

“BEE Creative” Literacy Contest

Agriculture in the Classroom NL has partnered with Exploits Meadow Farms and NL Eggs to give students all across Newfoundland and Labrador a chance to win a bee-hive in their school’s name. Two winners will be chosen.

Classes can submit three of their top literary works that combines the student’s literacy talent with their knowledge of agriculture in Newfoundland and Labrador. For example, classes can enter a poem, comic, essay, story, etc. that shows how important agriculture is to them or Newfoundland and Labrador. Contest runs March 1st to April 5th, 2019. The winners will be announced Friday, April 12th, 2019.

The winning school gets the opportunity to decorate the beehive anyway that they choose (school mascot, colors, etc.) Then, the beehive will be returned to Exploits Meadow Farms where it will be taken care of in the name of your school.

Hive updates will be provided by AITC NL.

How to enter:

All contest entries can be submitted by tagging @aitcnl and @EMF_Rodney via twitter with the hashtag #CALM19. All entries must be submitted by April 5th, 2019.
